History of Colwick Parish Council

Have you ever wondered how our unique Parish Council came into existence? The new Council re-emerged following overwhelming support from local residents at a public meeting convened by Colwick Residents Association in the summer of 1978 with the first Council being elected in 1980.

The attached documents and news clippings tell the story in full.

Thanks to Meredith Lawrence, former parish councillor, 1980 - 2009 and 2019 - 2023 for providing this fascinating historical archive.
